Subject: Judas hanged and later the body fell |
Bible Note: Someone asked a question about how one could reconcile the death of Judas. Did he hang himself or did he fall and all his bowels gush out? It seems to me that there are two stages to this account. First, Judas hanged himself. Since no one bothered to take the body down, in but a short time the rope (or twisted cloth) would weaken and the body would begin to decompose. When the rope or cloth gave way and the partially decomposed body fell, it would naturally burst apart upon impact. It seems clear to me that this is in fact what happened to Judas. |
