1 | Is Catholic considered false religion? | Matt 15:6 | calmrage | 71632
I don't think you have answered the question. The Bible clearly said that we should not worship idols and yet there are lots in Catholic Church. I once visited the Catholic church. I know they they tend to move the Mary up as a Holy mother! Holy mother??? Not found in the Bible. Of course, in Catholic church, they have some other extra book....... Again, if I read the Bible alone, Mary should not be worshiped. She was just a human being God used to have Jesus born. One more thing... I don't know why people are more against Mormon Church then Catholic church. Mormon church IS considered cult because of its "extra word of God - or the prophet Mormon" As for Catholic, yes, it does talk about trinity, but again, they have "holy mother".. I just want to ask your opinion based on the Bible. Of course, based on the history, we all know Protestants are from Catholic back in you know where... by the way, I did read your link about "worhsip Mary". Of course, I would be interested if I can find out anyone's saying directly about that... Even some priests or pastors from Christian churches, they seem to be reluctant to condamn Catholic for its way of worship. On the contrary, when Mormon is mentioned, they said cult rightaway.... I guess that has a lot of significance from the church history.... |

2 | Is Catholic considered false religion? | Matt 15:6 | Emmaus | 71638
calmrage, I will leave any comments on Mormonism or what some pastors may or may not think or say to others who may know more about it than me. I will try to address what I am familiar with. One reason Catholics call Mary holy is because she is called "full of grace" or "highly favored one" in Luke 1:28" and blessed among women in Luke 1:42, 48. Generally Catholics call her the Blessed Mother. Since that is scriptural. We wonder why some other christinas do not do the same. "Hail, full of grace!" Luke 1:28 "And she cried out with a loud voice and said, blessed are you among women," Luke 1:42 "all generations will call me blessed." Luke 1:48 As for worshiping statutes and images as idols- catholics no more worship than than Americans worship stautes of Washington and Lincoln and other heros that we see all over this country. They are eminders of the people they represent. Have you every seen and illustrated childrens bible or any other picture of Jesus in a Protestant context? Do you consider them idols? If you wish to see previous post I have made on this subject, please go tothe yellow Search box on the left side of the page and click on it. Then type in Emmaus and hit enter and you will see all my previous posts. Emmaus |

3 | Is Catholic considered false religion? | Matt 15:6 | calmrage | 71642
Yes, I do think that if books or movies show the face of Jesus, it would be considered image of God which is wrong. In my opinion, if you are grown up and understand words of God, you should explain to the children that is not the actual look of Jesus and they probably will not understand until they grow up. I remember I saw a well done Jesus movie. It's completely not showing the face of Jesus, not even one second, just his voice and his body. I guess that producer understood completely what the Bible command not to do. Again, there is no one righteousness, no, not even one. We are living in the sinful world. There are times that truth is very hard to comprehend. By the way, please do not get upset about my comments on Catholic church. I was not accusing of your belief. I am just wondering how you would answer the question of the way you were answering. We can go on and on... Again, Thanks for the answer. Sometimes, you can seek the truth even through your priests or pastors. They are offering what they believe what the Bible is saying. Only God himself knows exactly what he was talking about. We are like 90 percent close to the truth. For example. The position of Women in church. In the Bible, it says women should not teach men. while some of my pastors/revs. saying serving God is okay and/or there is enough good men to serve. Therefore, they let that happen... That leads another questionable thing... should women be pastors? and so on... The reason for posting not mainly seeking the truth, but seek what others are believing.... By the way, I just learned something about Mormon. It's differently a cult. I would say 100 per cent against Bible Teaching.. That's obvious. Thanks for reading.. I will post some more questions for people to ponder later... |
