1 | i'm still not getting this | Matt 12:31 | Ray | 93373
Hi graceful, Thank you for your posts. I appreciate that you do not want to address or debate the fact of the triune God. May I assure you that I believe in the Trinity. However, I want you to consider that there also is the "spirit" of God. I quoted Acts 19:2 as it is written in the NASB and the NKJ. However, I have the Holy Spirit in the lower case in my personal copy [penciled in]. So I would say, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a holy spirit." These Pharisees in Matthew 12:24-28 knew about the angel or spirit Beelzebul, the ruler of the demons. They did not recognize the power and authority of the finger or spirit of God. They knew of the evil spirit but did not know the spirit of holiness. All that came out of their mouth was evil for they said that He had an unclean spirit. I believe that the Scriptures speak of the Spirit and the spirit, the Holy Spirit and the holy spirit, the Light and the light, the Rock and the rock, etc., etc. I do not deny the Personhood of the Holy Spirit. I simply see the gift of the holy spirit also. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Ray, I just can't grasp your conclusion. I can't grasp the 'spirit of God'. Please explain what the spirit of God is and why you don't see this as Spirit of God? I can't communicate with you on this because in my mind, this is like a foreign language...does that make sense? There is God, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. You sound like there is another spirit of God other than the Holy Spirit...what is that? I just don't get that. God bless |

3 | Receive the Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Matt 12:31 | Ray | 98410
Hi graceful, I have stated through the years on this forum that I believed that the verses speaking of being filled with the Holy Spirit should be in the lower case "holy spirit". I believe that Jesus was filled with the holy spirit. That is my "penciled-in" interpretation of the Scriptures. I believe that the Holy Spirit comes "upon" someone, just as He did Jesus at His baptism; but the "filling" is the holy spirit. A question that has come to my mind has come from comparing Numbers 14:24 and 2 Corinthians 11:4. Is "a different spirit" one that should be sought after or put up with? What "different spirit" should we receive? 2 Corinthians 11:4, "...or you receive a different spirit which you have not received..." This implies that you should receive a spirit. Sorry I took so long to reply to you; let me hear from you. From the heart, Ray |

4 | Receive the Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Matt 12:31 | faithfulltrav | 98495
You said, "I believe that the Holy Spirit comes "upon" someone, just as He did Jesus at His baptism; but the "filling" is the holy spirit." What's your Biblical support to remove the Caps from the Holy Spirit's title? Please explain further. Every reference I've seen has it in caps. This is the format the translators of the KVJ and modern translations use. Why change it? We all "pencil" in our interpretations of the Scriptures. Such penciling (is that a word?) should be done with the back of other Scriptures to avoid false doctrine. Thanks, Scott. |

5 | Receive the Holy Spirit or holy spirit? | Matt 12:31 | Ray | 98536
Hi Faithfultrav, Welcome to the forum. Acts 13:2 says, "And while they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." Here we see that the Person of the Holy Spirt speaks and calls. Acts 5:3, 4, shows us that the Holy Spirit can be lied to and is God. But when I looked at the filling of the *holy *spirit I did not see any pronoun in that context that would equate it with a Person. I differentiate between the Giver and the gift, between the Spirit and the spirit. I see the holy spirit as a gift, given without measure by the Holy Spirit, to be received and sought after by believers. Acts 11:15, "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with [Or, in] the *holy *spirit." If God therefore gave to them the same GIFT as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" We can look at other Scriptures together if you would like. The important thing is that we hear the word of the gospel which cleanses us. Acts 15:8, "And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, GIVING them the *holy *spirit, just as He also did to us; and He made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith."
