While I agree, I don't see the significance of your statement that not every word God has uttered "became scripture" (graphe), i.e. written down. Mt. 4:4 says that we are to live "on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." That has to refer to Scripture because the only words God has given us to live by are contained in Scripture, ergo, Sola Scriptura! Are you trying to make a distinction between the words of God the Father and Jesus and that the Father's are more important? Is there a significance between "word (rhema) of God" in Luke 2:2 and "word (logos)of God" in Luke 5:1? |

Daniq Please read post #233234 by Beja. What I'm talking about is the similar to the regulative principal ( which is most commonly applied to worship) where anything that isn't mentioned in scripture is prohibited. That same concept is known as Sola Scriptura when used in regards to all aspects of church. I’m not denigrating scripture nor am I trying to elevate a particular form in which it was delivered in any way. What I’m saying is many of the most troubling questions we have in the church were often addressed by early church fathers, people that literally were taught by the apostles but we do not accept their views because they were never recorded in anything that was accepted as canon. |
