1 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | Rowdy | 133195
In addition, I found the following: Prov 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight. Prov 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous. God's Word seems to be clear on this point. I realize it's not what most people want to hear but we dare not think He'll contradict His own Words. God bless. Rowdy |

3 | How can a person be righteous | Prov 28:9 | JCrichton | 133331
Hi, Noveta! There's nothing we can do on our own to become righteous: What does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." (Romans 4:3) Though Abraham believed, it was God who found him righteous! This is the reason for the incarnation of the Word, the Lamb of God: remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. (Ephesians 2:13-22) So we are no longer to worry about the limitations of sin and the Law, in Christ Jesus we have free and clear access to God: Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:19-31) Jesus is our rightousness! God Bless! Angel |
