Hi, ds8334, I agree with the post that james210 wrote. Isaiah 59:1-2 says "Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear." It is sin that separates man from God. So who are they talking to when they "pray" a prayer that is not asking for Salvation? Well, look at it this way: wouldn't Satan love it if we thought we could pray, get what we ask for, and not get saved? It's a trick of the enemy and the fault of the unbeliever! Many times it seems that the unsaved has more than us, but God tells us in Psalm 37:16: "A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked." 1 Peter 3:12: "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." John 9:31: "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth." The answer is that unbelievers can pray to God, but He will only hear them when they are asking for forgiveness. Otherwise, some of the unbelievers' so-called answered prayers are actually those of the believers who are praying for them. WalkingTalkingBible |

Yes, I agree with you that the only prayer WE KNOW God hears from the unbeliever is the prayer of salvation. But, God can do anything. He can even answer the prayer of an unbeliever, and I know He answered mine. Janae. |

Hi, Janae! I just caught this thread... are you saying that you are an unbeliever that asked God in prayer/s for something? If that is your statement, I have to disagree with you... We may be ignorant of God (lacking familiarity with Scripture) or we may be burdened with doubt and misinformation (aware of God's Word but misguided by self-interpretation or erroneous teachings)... but the second we go to Yahweh with our concerns we cease being an unbeliever! If this is your trek... I suggest to you to get a Bible, speak to Christians in your neighborhood, engage this and other Christian forums, and develop your relationship with Christ! Feel free to contact me at: jcrichtonfs1 at yahoo.com I will pray that that Holy Spirit guide you to God and enlighten your life! God Bless! Angel |

6 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | Praise Be To God | 133219
Hi, Angel. No, I am not an unbeliever. (Remember my "Spiritual Dilemma" post?) I have been saved for 13-1/2 glorious years. But, the event of my prayer being answered happened BEFORE I WAS SAVED, I prayed to God and He answered my prayer. I did not know the Bible or scriptures which say, " If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me" All I knew was that my husband, myself and our three daughters and baby son were going to be put out on the street in one week! I sought God and He answered. I knew a little about God and yes, I believed in Him, but I thought my life had been such a shambles that He would not want me. After that prayer, we even went to church one time, and LIKED IT!!! But we didn't keep up with it. The house we moved into, the lady next door was a Christian and she was constantly trying to draw me to the Lord. If only we had listened back then. If only we would have let the Lord into our lives back then, I would not be divorced now and my children would have BOTH PARENTS together. But, alas, my ex-husband is completely lost, and I do pray for him. I did not actually come to the Lord until our divorce. God used that to bring me to Him. PRAISE GOD!!! Janae. |

7 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | JCrichton | 133257
Hi, Janae! Sometimes people play advocate for both sides of the argument... so though I did recognize your name from another thread... I was not sure where you were heading with this one... As you mentioned, you tasted God's mercy, savored it, and still refused to fellowship with Him... if He were like us He would have given up on you and your family... but God is not a man to take back His Gift... Be confident in the Lord, pray constantly, and maintain your fellowship with Christ... His Holy Spirit can rescue your ex-husband from his eminent death! Through your love and devotion, your children will also learn to trust the Lord and maintain fellowship with Christ! Thank you for your witnessing to God's Love, Mercy and Patience... I know that there are people searching for answers that, by reading your testimony, can came to humble obedience and acceptance of God! God Bless! Angel |
