1 | Simple example that we shoud keep sabbat | Ps 111:7 | DaveDriver | 59348 | ||
I never argue. I disagree with your opinion that God would give instruction and Messiah would not follow it. If Messiah broke the Law then he would not be a perfect sacrifice, He would not have been worthy to redeem us from the wages of our sin. I don't think that you intend to say that the Messiah kept Torah imperfectly but that seems to be what you are hinting at. What Messiah did was correct Jews who were worshiping Sabbath and it's ordinances. They were not keeping it holy. There was no law for Moses and a Law for Christ. They are the same. It was kept imperfectly by man, but kept perfectly by Jesus. He put it in it's proper place, behind hospitality, charity, kindness, and feeding your family. When you mention the man who was stoned the first Sabbath after the giving of the Torah you forgot that this man was indignantly walking around advertising that the next day he was going to gather firewood and Manna. God's instruction was that if a man was found violating Sabbath that he was to be brought before a the elders of Israel and on the testimony of two or three witnesses he was condemned to be stoned to death by the leaders of the community. The requirement that he be brought before the elders was to allow for accuracy in testimony, and to offer the man mercy and to make sure that there was no extenuating need that the man was trying to meet. People were almost never killed for violating Sabbath. Just like in the commandment re the rebellious son NO ONE has ever been executed according to that commandment. Mercy was always given. Exodus. 16:29 is about not traveling on Sabbath, not about staying indoors. Imagine staying indoors all day when the only bathroom you have is out side! Traveling was quite an undertaking even fifty years ago. It wasn't restful at all. The point is that the Messiah gave THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of how to keep Sabbath throughout his life. Even if he did labor he never violated the sanctity of Sabbath therefore he never broke the Law. |

I was just going through all posted notes and I came to read your note. I wonder why so many people wrestle to things that are made plain in the Bible. Indeed, Jesus is the Greatest and who faithfully keep His Fathers law which He wants us to follow.His death on the cross is the ultimate witness that He uphold the Law and did not break it. But sad to know that so many of us wrestle with the goodness, holiness of the Law and we kept trying to justify that the Lord's sabbath is no longer binding, the reason is because in our own will it does not give us profit.I pray that many others will find what you have found in Jesus Example in keeping the sanctity of the Sabbath. God Bless! |
