1 | WHO DID CHRIST DIE FOR ?????? | Revelation | Morant61 | 96808
Greetings Humpy! May I tackle this question? I'm assuming that you are trying to draw attention to the distinction between the Apostles and the world in John 17:9. But, this doesn't really strenghten your case, but weakens it. If 'world' refers to those for whom Christ is not praying, then why would it refer to a different group in John 3:16? So, if 'world' in John 17:9 is a group other than the chosen apostles, then 'world' in John 3:16 must also include the same people for whom Christ is not praying in John 17:9. :-) By the way, the answer to your question is simply this: Jesus' priestly prayer is a prayer for first His disciples, then for those who will be won by them. It is a very specific prayer, and was never meant to be a prayer for every single individual in the world. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

that is right, it was never meant for everyone, that is my whole point, he said I pray for them, a group of people, and he says that he does not pray for the world, another group of people. That is what I'm trying to say, that the word world in the bible does not and could not mean everybody in the world, it don't mean everyone in the world in other places and it does not mean everyone in John.3:16. Take Rom.1:8 here Paul says that the christian faith had been prached onto the whole WORLD, surely no one think that Paul meant everyone in the whole wide world had heard the preaching. See What I Mean. The world in John.3:16 has the same idea.
