1 | WHO DID CHRIST DIE FOR ?????? | Revelation | Hank | 96390
humpy, what shall we call you, "one verse" humpy? :-) You singled out a lone verse in Revelation to introduce us to your Preterist theory of eschatology and now you zero in on a lone verse in John to introduce us to your Limited Atonement theory of soteriology. ...... But, humpy, spare us the agony of suffering through another debate of this "L" (Limited Atonement) petal, the most controversial of the TULIP petals of Calvinism. Calvinism and its counterpart, Arminianism, have been debated to death on this forum and have caused more friction and disruption than any other topics that have ever hit the pages of this forum. If you have about a month to spare and wish to read what has been posted on Calvinism/Arminianism: free-will and election, total depravity of man, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, or perseverence of the saints, go to Search and type in any combination of these key words. But please do not push this issue further. To do so will engender debate and result in disruption of this forum. Please believe me that it is in your own best interests to proceed no further on this subject. It is most unlikely that you will be able to produce any verse of Scripture or add any supplementary exposition that has not been covered many times on this forum. You will succeed only in plowing old ground that has already been plowed many times over and had no measurable effect in changing anyone's mind. So please, I appeal to you, end this now while you still have the option. --Hank
2 | WHO DID CHRIST DIE FOR ?????? | Revelation | humpy | 96544
what is hard for me to understand is, how can you say that I give a one verse to all my subjects, when the bible has so many verse on the fact that God did not choose everyone in the world to save. How can you disagree with the bible. If the bible says it, does that not make it so, everyone uses the John.3:16 verse to prove that God loves everyone, but they never try to show what the verse really means. Let me just say this, for every verse that people give that shows that God loves everyone there are ten more that will show that he don't, how can you disagree with all these verses? Like take this one verse. Rom.9:13, God hates, how are we going to do away with this one verse? Please if you can, answer this one verse for one verse humpy.

humpy - Friend, I don't base my theological views on counting verses; and I won't count verses with you. I refuse to list on one side of the ledger sheet the verses that reveal that God loves the world and have you list on the other side of the ledger the verses you interpret to mean that God hates most of it. This fatuous and inane approach to Scripture will profit nothing for you, for me, or for anyone. --Hank
4 | WHO DID CHRIST DIE FOR ?????? | Revelation | humpy | 96561
than it is a shame that you don't believe what the word of God has to say. From what you have said is that you know that the bible say's that God loves everyone and than it say's that he hates others, you can't have it both ways. Let me ask you a question. Where in the bible does it say that Christ died for everyone??

Greetings Humpy! May I interrupt? This is an excellent example of why this topic is pointless. From your perspective, Hank doesn't believe what the 'Bible says'. But, from Hank's perspective, he simply doesn't believe what you claim it says! ;-) Let this topic die! It goes nowhere. I know from experience! :-) The two theological camps simply do not speak the same language on this issue. I read 'all', you see 'some'. I read 'everyone', you see 'the elect'. I read 'world', you see 'believers throughout the world'. Do you see my point? How can an agreement be reached if we don't even speak the same language? Of course, the same is true from your standpoint. You'll look at a verse and wonder why in the world Hank and I can't see the obvious! :-) But, don't accuse Hank of not believing the Word of God simply because he doesn't read it from the same perspective as you do! :-( Hank has demonstrated time and again his commitment to God's word. I respect him and his opinion, just as I respect others with whom I don't see eye to eye on this issue - like John and Joe! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

I don't mean to sound mean to anyone, I'm just saying that God does not love everyone. Let me give you a text. Look at John.14:21,23. now listen to what Christ says here, He says if man keep my commandments, than and not before than,Than will my father lave him, which of course would have no meaning at all if God already loved everyone. See what I mean.

Greetings Humpy! I don't think you sounded mean! :-) I just think that our theological systems make it so that we will never agree on this issue! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

it is not me or you that should be agreeing or disagree, it is the bible that we all should listen to.

Greetings Humpy! I agree, but we disagree on what the Bible says. :-) I think that when the Bible says 'all', it means 'all'. :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
