Now, now, Darcy, rest easy! In trying to deal with your correspondent, you must remember you have entered the twilight zone of semantics where world does not mean world, all does not mean all, whosoever means the chosen few, and everyone means everyone of the elect. Someone once asked Charles Spurgeon why he didn't preach more to the elect. Said Spurgeon, "Mark them so I'll know who they are and I'll be happy to preach to them." Calvinists like to claim this prince of preachers, Spurgeon, as their own, but in his mature years he confessed, "I am a very bad Calvinist. I long for the day when the elect will be the whole world." --Hank | ||||||
