1 | If we ask for healing does God answer no | 1 Peter | mitchbornagain | 146748 | ||
Ok, let me give you the Scriptues where you can find in your own Bible the story of John the Baptist , and how we can ask ourselves, why was he doubting God. I won't post it all here, to keep from taking up space but you can find the story in : Matthew 3:14-17 Here John recognizes whom Jesus is, so much that he thinks he should be baptized by Him, also note the voice form heaven. Mark 1:9-11 NOte again, the voice from heaven confirming who Christ is, and the Spirit like a dove. Luke 3:21-22 Here again, the Holy Ghost comes down, and the voice from heaven is heard. John 1:29-33 Here John is even calling out saying this is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. IN other words, what I'm saying, is that John knew who he was in the presence of didn't he? So then let me ask you about this scripture. Matthew 11:2-6 We find here, that John has been put into prision, and it says he hears of the things Jesus is doing, so he sends his followers to go and ask if 'Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another' (verse 3). So, why is it John would have to ask if that is the Christ, if he already made a statement knowing that it was? Could it be because he is locked up in prison, and getting just a bit offended towards God that he is in there? Look at Jesus' last response to this question. "And blessed is he , whosever shall not be offended in me" Jesus is adressing the fact that John is doubting who Jesus is, because he is offended at Him, over the fact that he has been locked up in prison. Did John die and go to heaven? I'm sure he did, but Scripture does make it clear to us, that He knew who Christ was, then began to question it, in other words, he began to doubt what the Word of God had said. Hope this cleared things up a bit! Mitch |

Mitch: Thanks for your note. It appears that your adding extra meaning to the text that just is not there. The KJV is a translation that has lost some of the word meanings in our culture today. When we compair words with their orignal intended meaning with the meanings of today there are huge problems, unless one fully understands what has been lost or changed in the last century. I fail to seen that John doubted what had been revield to him. John was not offended or ashamed of Christ as I read the text. Lets look at the purpose of John the baptizer. Was he not the forrunner of Christ? If John remained, then Jesus might well have not been seen as the only Son of God. John and Jesus were cousins, and they knew of each other. In fact John said he was unworthy to untie the strings on Jesus's sandels. This indicates John was aware that Jesus was of God. This would be especially true after hearing the voice from heaven proclaiming Jesus to be the Son of God whom the Holy Father Loved. I doubt if any of us today has heard the Holy Spirit in a audible voice that others could hear as well. This is the situation John was in when Jesus was baptized. I can not imagine that John was a doubted after this experience. I have never heard before anyone express that John was beheaded because he doubted that Jesus was God in human form, the God-Man of the Trinity. Mitch, I say this with respect, and kindness, I think your pretty off about John on this. I wish you would address the issue of healing for me. I would like to dialogue, without insults, but with respect and kindness. I praise your use of Scriptur to prove your points. We can agree to disagree, and not be disagreeable with one another. Blessings. justme |

Certainly I do not mind discussing healing with you. I read your post before I cleared up with the Scripture my remarks about John the Baptist, and let me say again, I am sorry that I did not post scripture for my remarks in the first place, I will do my utmost to do better from now on. I am new to this website, but I'll get the hang of it very quickly. Let me adress first one thing I noticed in your previous post, you said that in your life you have found it best to seek God and find out his will. And I applaud you for that, my posts all along, have just been trying to show everyone who will listen, that it is God's will to heal everyone. Any questions you wish to talk over, I'll be more than happy to come back with Scriptual answers for you. Mitch |
