1 | If we ask for healing does God answer no | 1 Peter | mitchbornagain | 146322 | ||
It is God's will to heal everyone. Jesus came into this world, and suffered a horrible penalty so that man could be restored to the relationship God inteded for us to have before Adam sinned in the Garden. I doubt many of us will doubt God sent his son to restore our relationship with Himself, so why is it we want to doubt he wanted to restore everything we lost? Scripture will tell you God is a healer, and its his will that everyone should be healed. To deny the power of the cross is foolishness, and you are trampling the blood of Christ underfoot. Has God Himself not stated I am the Lord that healeth thee? Show me where he says, I'm the Lord who healeth thee when I feel compassionate enough to. Or can we believe the Bible is true when it says God is love. So my answer, the biblical answer, is that it is God's will to heal everyone. But just like salvation, you must come to him and believe. Dear Mitch, If the Gospel is about physical healing, then it is an utter failure, since, ultimately, everyone dies. God will, indeed, restore all that was lost in the fall, but much of that restoration will be after glorification. While it is true that all healing, of any sort, comes from the Lord; I would challange the statement that "it is God's will to heal everyone." Since not all believers are healed, your statement implies that God is impotent to accomplish His will. I can show you a number of places where God actually sends physical maladies to accomplish His will (both in the Old and New Testaments). The purpose of the cross was for justification. We were not in error, simply needing a teacher. We were not sick, simply needing a doctor. We were dead, needing a Savior. In the light of the spiritual efficacy of the cross, physical healing is of very little consequence. In Him, Doc |

Doc, I'm not Mitch but I am curious to know the instances of God sending physical maladies you speak of. I might know what you are referring to but I'm not sure. Theresa |

Theresa I'm not Doc but let me offer two scriptures for you to consider until we hear from Doc. Exodus 4:11 and 1 Cor 11:27-30. Also if I might suggest something once you are involved in a thread you don't have to keep making your posts a question to ask a question. When you flag your post as a question it then appears on the Question queue. If you just flag it as a note everyone following the thread will still see it and the one to whom you responded to will be notified by e-mail that you responded. We just try to keep the question queue for new threads or to post something that everyone needs to see. :-) EdB |
