1 | Can we agree? | Hebrews | Kelkat | 18228 | ||
Yes, we agree. But we still things a bit different. I don't think God desires ME to be wealthy. I do think He is wealthy, and desires to bless me so that I can bless others. Here's my best example: I know a couple who God had burden their hearts to adopt sibling groups. The do not have "grand" careers, and the woman even stays home. God provides for them daily, and is providing the home and transportation they will need to get that many children around. But they do not view the house or cars or money as theirs. They consider themselves stewards, and try to prayerfully do with everything. That is what I think the scripture is talking about when it talks about prosperity. Being able to meet all needs, whatever those needs are, of those that God directs us to. It has to be a God thing. If "I" gets into, then prIde can't be far behind, and we all know where pride leads. :) Kelkat |

Greetings Kelkat! Thanks for the response! The example you provided is an excellent one. I pray that God will continue to allow them to minister to these young ones. I don't doubt for a second that God will meet our needs. The only thing I doubt is the "name it and claim it" theology. There undoubtedly are some whom God will richly bless for His sovereign purposes. They will be wealthy and healthy. However, at other times, God will work through illness and need to glorify His name. For instance, Joni Erickson is such a person. There is no doubt that God could heal her. But, He has chosen to work through her injuries to bring hope and faith to many people. She is able to minister to people that you or I could never reach, because of her health problems. Where the "name it and claim it" theology goes wrong is that it turns God into a giant geni. If we simply rub Him three times, we get our wish. But, Scripture doesn't back this claim up.
