1 | Is sex between singles a sin? | 1 Corinthians | JMR | 17498
This might sound like an easy question to answer, but I'm confused. I am a single male (never been married) dating a single female (never been married). Would having sex be a sin? The Ten Commandments don't address this issue (see Exodus 20:3-17) nor is it addressed in the two commandments on which the whole Law and the Prophets depend on (see Matt 22:36-40).

Eh, here's another one to throw into the fray. I would argue that sex begins with a kiss. I wish I had the time and space to expound upon the covenantal reltionship of family that God in His staggering wisdom put into place. The long and the short of it is that a girl belongs to her father until the day when she is married. Her husband is her head, her lord. She is subject to him. You have no right or claim on her, regardless of the fact that her father is abdicating his responsibility. Further, if you have any respect for this woman at all, you should not trample her beauty in the dust, making her appear as some woman of the night by taking from her what is her father's. Even something the world looks at as small, such as making out, or excessively long hugging fits into this category. Some may level the charge of legalism; I would say that the reverse is the case. The sinful mind is legalistic (i.e. "Is oral sex *really* sex?", "How far is too far?") These questions are the product of a sinful mind trying to find out where the edge of the cliff is so it can stand with its toes dangling off the edge. I encourage you to study what the Word of God says about the operation of a family and the covenant that God has placed around man and wife. You can begin to approach the marraige relationship in a godly way once you see God's plan in marraige in family and not before. |
