Bible Question: This might sound like an easy question to answer, but I'm confused. I am a single male (never been married) dating a single female (never been married). Would having sex be a sin? The Ten Commandments don't address this issue (see Exodus 20:3-17) nor is it addressed in the two commandments on which the whole Law and the Prophets depend on (see Matt 22:36-40). |
Bible Answer: JMR- I've read the responses to your question and I am in full agreement. I would only like to make an additional comment. When two people engage in sex, they become "one", soulmates, if you will. There is a bond formed, a part that is left with the partner and the partner leaves with you. This is wonderful in the confines of marriage and just as God planned for it. But outside of marriage it is a way for Satan to get his hooks in you in that area and to make a mockery of what God had planned for something precious. This is also something that he can thrown at you in the form of guilt and pull you a little farther away from God. Unmarried, even with the plans of marriage in the future, sex is still fornication and sin. My advice - admit to God you have sinned, renounce any hold Satan has on you in this area and ask that God's cleansing spirit keep you pure and strong. Then stay out of dark places with your girlfriend, spend a lot of time having others with you and make that commitment of respect and love for each other. God give you wisdom and strength. Debbie |
