I am not sure if I answered this so if I have disreguard this one. Acts 2:4 "All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. The initial evidence of being baptized with the Holy Spirit is that you will gegin to speak with other tongues. Acts 10:44-46 Speaking in tongues is for all who is fill with the Holy Spirit. Yes, if you are led to speak out in your heavenly language there will be interpretation. otherwise, it only edify's yourself. I can do that at home, by myself. I Corinthians 14:18 Paul spoke in tongues and was proud of it. Mark 16:17 "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues." Jesus said it is for all who believe: You believe and receive the gift by faith. In 1 Corinthians 12:30 Paul ask "Do all speak in tongues? He is probably talking about the gift of diverse kinds of tongues that are to be interpreted in the church service. This is one of the nine gifts of the Spirit listed in that chapter for the body of Christ. He is not speaking of the personal gift of tongues for the believer. Arent they two different things? It is just like the gift of faith listed in 1 Corinthians 12, tongues that will be spoken out and interpreted in the body, but all can have the ability to pray in tongues for personal edification. I need all the edification I can receive. But we do have to ask for it first. Thanks for the come back. joan | ||||||

Searcher56: I would find it so refreshing to have someone, male or female, and say "the Holy Spirit has given me the gift of helps, how do I use it?" Paul called tongues the least desireable gift. With that in mind why does it seem tongues is the gift most often brought up? Something to think about, right? Blessings. justme |
