1 | Joann ... Why not use your gift ? | Romans | josiebible | 91899
I am a new Christain who is filled with the Holy spirit. I do not totally understand the gift of the Holy Spirit, so I have had to go through a fear of it. I believe of course this fear is of the enemy and I am working through the doubts and fears of what man will say about me or to me.I also attend a Baptist church where there is little taught on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and most do not agree with it. I prayed for this gift for a long time and than when I got it it took me a while to believe it was really the gift of the Holy spirit. It just sounded so strange to me and I allowed satin to lie and tell me it was just a bunch of garble and meant nothing. I have since prayed to God to reveal to me the truth and His word says,"Acts 2:38-39"you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the promise is to you..." It is a promise if we ask Him. When I pray in tongues I am built up and encouraged. I believe God is praying a perfect prayer through me. It is a mystery and I certainly do not understand what I am saying but I am certain of one thing God is praying for my needs. I have just started telling family and friends that I have this gift and some have a strange look and tone in there voice and try to put more doubt in my mind that this is from my enemy. So you see what I am trying to say? Not that it is right for me to do that. I am not sure if this is a correct approach or not. Under the circumstances it might be the best approach for now. I am praying for God to lead me to the Church of His choice. I do know about 1 Cor 14. The way I understand this gift is that God seeks people to worship in spirit and truth and He loves for us to pray in tongues. When we speak in tongues in a Church it must be directed from the Holy Spirit and if there is not an interpreter than that is proof that that person should not have spoken out. This is not good for the unbelievers and believers either. A new Christain should be very careful with this don't you think? Well, it is late and I am so tired I can hardly think any longer. Hope this answered your concerns. Thanks for the responce. God Bless, Joann

Hi Josie, You said.. "I do know about 1 Cor 14. The way I understand this gift is that God seeks people to worship in spirit and truth and He loves for us to pray in tongues. When we speak in tongues in a Church it must be directed from the Holy Spirit and if there is not an interpreter than that is proof that that person should not have spoken out." This is for the most part correct. Your statement that if there is no interprer the pweson spoke in error may or may not be accurate. 1 Corinthians 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: Simply because a message is not interpreted does not mean the message should not have been given. The manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit are subject to the person. One can refuse or become uncertain and fearful and refuse to follow the unction of the Holy Spirit. the reason I point this out is that should the Holy Spirit decide to gift you with the gift of tongues, Satan could trick you. The person who has the 'gift' KNOWS it. The Holy Spirit will make this clear and one will not base their faith on whether someone responds or not, but rather on the voice of the Holy Spirit. What you said can be true but is not a 'rule'. Any questions? God bless |
