1 | Holy (GHOST) Received but not Realized? | Romans | GeorJoy | 90158 | ||
My question was, and is as follows; Can one have received the Holy (GHOST) and not know? I have yet to come to a conclusion based on scripture. I mean no offence to anyone but, I prefer a response from one who has experianced the utterance of toungs. I invite NO debate on toungs, the Holy Spirit, or anything other than the question presented herein. George |

No way can you receive the Holy Spirit and not know it. The answer is in the Scripture that states: "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find." Romans 8:26 states it plainly: 26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. The Holy Spirit is behind those scriptures and if you have received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues you will not wonder, you will know. |

I had things more than a little mixed up. Like some often do, I opened my mouth before I had engaged my brain. Although having read, I did not see. "with the evidence of speaking." Thanks George |

Scripture ... Acts 2:41; 2:27; 4:4; 8:14-17; 8:34-39; 9:5-19; 10:44-48;16:14-15;16:31-34;19:5-7; 1 Cor 12:10, 28, 30 ... George, Do not be led astray Speaking in tongues is not need to prove we have the Holy Spirit... let us look in Acts at the salvation experiences: -2:41 ... 3,000 saved. The 120 spoke in known languages (2:6 ff) -2:27 ... many daily -4:4 ... 5,000 saved -8:14-17 ... Samaritans -8:34-39 ... Ethopian -9:5-19 ... Paul (tho he spoke in tongues later (1 Cor 13:1)) *10:44-48 Cornelius and his house ... they did speak in tongues -16:14-15 ... Lydia -16:31-34 ... jailer and his house *19:5-7 ... about 12 disciples of John ... they did speak in tongues. ... only three of ten times in the book of Acts is tongues seen with salavtion. Since it is a gift (1 Cor 12:10, 28, 30), we cannot ask for it. It would be rude to ask for any gift, even from another human. The Holy Spirit chooses who gets the gifts. If you read the rest of the chapter, you'l see it is one of the gifts and a minor gift (note where it is listed) ... plus, we'd be wierd if we were all a tongue. Searcher |
