Hello Emmaus, Nice answer....But, does being a "partaker" of the divine nature imply that we in any way become divine ourselves? In this life we become partakers of the Holy Spirit. Heb 6:4 "For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,". We partake in a certain sense in that the Spirit dwells within us and works sanctification out in our lives. But we do not share or recieve the essence of divinity within ourselves, thus becoming God-like! In common english usage, one could be said of having "partaken" of a meal, yet it would be absurd to infer that we had become a part of that meal. We simply enjoy and are prospered by the benefits of eating it. Is there any example or teaching in Scripture that instructs us to pray to a saint or an angel? On the contrary: Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 2 Rom 8:27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 3 Rom 8:34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. No one loves His people more than the Lord Jesus. Why would I ask another to intercede on my behalf before The Father? John |

John, I think my previous posts have already addressed all your questions to the best of my ability. I don't believe anthing I might have to say would sway you. We are simply in disagreement. But be consoled. In this matter everyone else is on your side, not on your case. Emmaus |

Dear Emmaus, I am not against you. You are very good at defending and explaining RCC theology. You have shown that their is, at least some, biblical foundation for your beliefs. I am soooo tired of petty bickering. Just because I disagree with a person does not mean I dislike the person with whom I have the disagreement. I could care less about currying favor with my theological opponents (I think you may know those to whom I refer) and would consider it unmanly as well as immoral to pile on someone else to deflect criticism from myself. I hope you believe me. Your Friend, John |

John, I did not say you are against me only that we disagree. Nor do I feel I am being piled up on. I am at peace with the realization that some of my theological views are minority positions on this forum. I usually know which those views are and the general nature of the response expected. For the most part, I find the atmosphere here cordial even in disagreement. Emmaus |
