1 | Is praying to created beings scriptural? | Bible general Archive 1 | EdB | 62757 | ||
Emmaus Most interesting discussion and you made some very interesting points. The only problem I have is unless the saints become omnipresent upon death there isn't any way they could hear everyone that might be praying for their assistance/agreement at the same time. Since the Bible gives no indication that omnipresence is virtue given to dead saints in Christ, I think this whole discussion hinges on mere speculation or possibly doctrine of men, but definitely not Biblical certainty. I hope that is not being unfair or un-Christ like, but that is how it appears to me. EdB |

Ed, Thanks for your comments. I did not intend to start a thread on this subject when I affirmed CDBJ's post on Michael the angel. I only intended to make a connection between the scriptures being discussed and a particular prayer drawn from them which came to my mind. I should have anticipated the result. I had never really make the conscious connection before. In any case I have stated my belief on the subject and am content to let it stand with the clear expectation that it is not shared by anyone else on this forum. I have never represented myself as an adherent of sola scriptura, though I love and revere the scriptures as the word of God. Emmaus |

Emmaus You said "I have never represented myself as an adherent of sola scriptura". Careful my friend that will get you shot!!! I find many claim to be sola scriptura but few really are. I like those that proclaim "sola scriptura" then void passages by proclaiming it as written to a particular social custom of the time and simply does not apply to us today. Or those that violate standard linguistics and explain what the passage really means. And lastly those that take passages out of context turning them into pretext. My friend sadly there are not many that really follow true sola scriptura but to say you are not an adherent is bound to bring the very walls down on you. Brother you are in my prayers! Your honesty is refreshing! EdB |
