1 | Does most of the Gospel say women teach? | 1 Cor 11:5 | tomsweetstir | 79401 | ||
Sir, do you make it a habit of twisting Scriptures until they fit “your doctrine”? Because, I have noticed that by the time they are twisted to fit “your doctrine” they don’t fit Scripture anymore. You neglected to mention ANY pertinent ones that HELP explain so many of the ones you twist. Acts 2:17-18 says what about the Holy Spirit will have women, daughters, GOD'S HANDMAIDS do? Where exactly will this take place? Won't that help "perfect the saints as Eph. 4 describes? How CAN a woman prophecy in church as Peter said she WOULD, – if she is to remain silent? Did you also fail to notice that Paul told MEN to be silent in that chapter? Do you know where in the “law” it is written for woman not to speak in church? Book, chapter and verse please? Doesn’t YOUR Bible have the same verses that mine has about woman? Are you going to pass on "other scriptures" in an attempt to twist away my questions, or will you act upon what your profile declares? |

Scripture ... Eph 4:11; 1 Cor 11:3-16, 14:34-35; 1 Tim 2:9-15, 3:2; Tit 1:6 ... Tom, I have no issues with Acts 2:17-18 ...Women and men will prophecy ... and based on the rest of the Bible, to other women. See above passages. Where exactly will this take place? The Bible does not say but the when is "AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS" ... I don't think we are there yet, based on the context in Joel. Won't that help "perfect the saints as Eph 4 describes? No, since each noun in verse 11 is masculine. How CAN a woman prophecy in church as Peter said she WOULD, – if she is to remain silent? Only to other women ... see above. Did you also fail to notice that Paul told MEN to be silent in that chapter? No, please show me. Do you know where in the “law” it is written for woman not to speak in church? Book, chapter and verse please? Doesn’t YOUR Bible have the same verses that mine has about woman? Again read the above passages. Are you going to pass on "other scriptures" in an attempt to twist away my questions, or will you act upon what your profile declares? What other Scripture do you have. Searcher |

Sir, please note Acts 2:16 for the time period this happened in. Peter, under the influence of the Holy Spirit declared, “BUT THIS IS WHAT WAS SPOKEN THROUGH THE PROPHET JOEL: it will be in the last days.” In effect, Peter was saying what so many said in those last days. “What Joel talked about – is now here.” You don’t have to think we are “in the last days” yet. We aren’t. Peter WAS. And just as foretold, Acts 21:9 mentions the four daughters who prophesied. You mentioned that the Eph list is “all male”. So what? In every language, words are either male, female or neuter. Do you know which of God’s “names” are feminine? 1 Cor 14:24 says “Therefore if the WHOLE CHURCH assembles together and ALL speak in tongues.” “Church” IS feminine. “All” means everybody, male and female. Verse 24, “But if ‘ALL’ prophesy” also goes to both sexes. |

Tom ... Greek is very precise and since Eph 4:11 are all masculine, that is what God meant. Otherwise, we will have same sex marriages be okay. Acts 2:16 could have been then ... but, in context w/ the rest of Scripture, I believe women teach women. Searcher |
