1 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Hank | 29675
Truthstudent: In truth, I'd rather doubt that children would find the doctrine of the Trinity any more baffling or inexplainable than adults do! I've taught a variety of age groups for years and it's been my experience that children's minds are frequently keener (and more open) than many adult minds. Children appreciate honesty. I think it better to say to a child, "Look, I can't explain the Trinity, I don't fully understand it and don't believe anyone does. But God's word teaches it and I believe it." The minds of little folk are so retentive. They will remember the egg analogy and grow into adulthood and there find the analogy faulty. Isn't it better to be frank and honest with children (of all ages) and admit that we don't have all the answers either? --Hank
2 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Truthstudent | 29682
Well, Hank, I disagree. When you are talking to 3 and 4 year old children, it is more feasible to use an egg and be able to show them the shell, the yolk and the white because if they can see it, it makes more sense to them. I agree that honesty is best with anyone, especially children, but some children need to see the 3 parts to understand what is being explained. There are some people that if they can't physically see it, they cannot picture it in their minds so to aid in learning one must show physical truth. Granted you cannot break God into 3 parts like you do an egg, but the concept was to show them that there are three parts to a whole egg and that the whole egg is like the Trinity.

But, Truthstudent, does God always show us, young or old, physical truth? Why then should we feel impelled to show physcial truth whilst teaching spiritual truth? --Hank
4 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Makarios | 29690
Greetings Hank, my friend! Here's a riddle for you: 'A box without hinges, key, or lid, yet golden treasure inside is hid'. :-) The Trinity is as real as the answer to this riddle, yet it is not as easily grasped, as you have so well pointed out, my friend.. Blessings to you, Nolan |

5 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Hank | 29695
Nolan, the only riddle I know is "What's black and white but should be red (read)?" (The Bible) See, I am kinder to you than you to me! So, what's the answer to your riddle? --Hank
6 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Makarios | 29704
Greetings, Hank! The correct answer to my riddle is an 'egg', as Tim has rightly guessed! Of course, you have always been kind and your posts have been a source of refreshment on this Forum, since you constantly prove that the Bible is not a book that should be judged by its cover! :) Blessings to you, Nolan |

7 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Hank | 29714
Nolan, don't let on to Tim, but I have a sneaky suspicion that he got his answer about the egg from Regis Philbin. When I tried to call Regis, the line was busy and I just know it was Tim. Next thing you know Tim will be telling us which came first, the chicken or the egg :-) --Hank
8 | Please explain the Trinity. | John 1:1 | Morant61 | 29726
Hey Hank! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get through to Regis? Besides, Genesis makes is clear that the chicken came first! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, all that's left to say on the egg issue is that in my book, you're a good egg :-) ...... (Can you believe this thread started out trying to "explain" the Trinty?) --Hank
