1 | Don't you think so? | Prov 3:5 | Makarios | 107783
Greetings Noble! I have long learned that a question asked on this forum is really "a live target" for any kind of response, whether it be factual, rhetorical, or simply pure nonsense. Take myself for instance.. Of all the posts that I have written, I have only asked 241 questions. As you can probably tell, I am not as comfortable asking questions at this Forum then I am answering them and providing support material (notes). Therefore, the bulk of my posts will always be in answers and notes, and any answers that I really want a clear, concise, biblical answer to, I will have to seek those answers for myself, since there are very few here at this forum of whom I can trust to give me kind of answer that I am looking for in the first place. That is why I try to set an example, and truly give a concerted effort into every answer that I give, based on the Bible. But the Answer to this question is "No." You cannot always count on a "kind" response. Makarios |

2 | Doesn't it say that? | Prov 3:5 | Aixen7z4 | 107791
Jesus was known for the kindness of his words. “All bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth (Luke 4:22). He said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart” (Matthew 11:29) . Listen to some of our brethren talk and we seem to be characterized by pride and arrogance and impatience. Someone asks a question and the grammar is not quite there and we snap at them. Jesus would have us go the second mile, I think, and help them out, and be kind to them when we answer. This is not a matter of machismo. Paul says, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man” (Colossians 4:6). Let us hope that those who know the Bible well enough to answer questions will also demonstrate that they are willing to obey the Bible by answering with grace. It is evident, Makarios, that your Bible knowledge is at a high level. I would hope that you could ask a question, even when you know the answer, in order to benefit those who might not know. But if you have to fear a sharp or condescending answer, I can understand why you would not take that route. It may also be the reason that people from the cults and others with shaky doctrine choose not to ask questions, don’t you think? They may come on with accusations or with bluster in order to protect themselves from the expected response. I still don’t know why we ask people, “Are you a Jehovah’s Witness?” What if they are? We can still speak to them with kindness, I think, and maybe win them over with the word. I am still thinking of turning all of this into a question, but for now I think I’d rather say, a little dose of humility might do us all some good. Jesus was meek and we can imitate him in that. Somehow a rough manner, for me, seems ill-fitting on a Christian. I am tempted to say, “Ye have not so learned Christ”. In any case we would not want to discourage a person who comes here with a question (Would we?) especially when we can sense that the person is unsaved or newly saved. I am not sure we should accustom ourselves to rough answers. The servant of the Lord must be gentle to all men. Doesn’t it say that? |

Aixen7z4 Notice this thread is now restricted I don't know the real reason but I imagine someone complained that this was going no where. You have repeatedly complained about the forum, the people on it, the responses you receive. I and others have tried to explain to you what the forum is, whether we like it or not that is what is, we have explained that we have worked with Lockman to see if we could improve it, but in each case the solution was cost prohibitive. We explained the way to handle bad posts and users that become odorous, we have pointed you to the e-mail address so you can make your case to Lockman yourself. We have tried to show you ways to enhance your forum usage and things that you could personally do to improve the forum and yet you come back that your not treated right, you spoken harshly to, we are not sensitive to others and etc. Let me say this not in a mean way but as clear as I can make it. The forum is what it is, your are welcome here, your suggestions are welcome here, but until unless something radically happens it looks like what you see is what you get. Now it is up to you to decide if you want to be a part of it or not. If you do, fantastic welcome aboard and let’s move on. If you don’t then I suggest you yourself move on. Again I’m not saying this to be mean but I think we have said just about everything and spent as much time on this subject as it is worth. EdB |

Think positive, EdB. They've gotten the message. They're considering the improvements. And I'll be back. God bless us all.
