Bible Question (short): Were angels created on day 2 or 3? |
Question (full): Ps 104: 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, 2 Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. 3 He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind; 4 He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers. 5 He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever. 6 You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. 7 At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. Job 38:4 "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding, 5 Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? 6 "On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy? On the first day, God created light, and separated the light from the dark. Gen 1:3-5 On the second day, God created an expanse in the midst of the waters, Gen 1:6-8 On the third day, God gathered the waters below heaven, and dry land appeared. Gen 1:9-10 God tells Job that the angels were there when He laid the foundation of the earth. Psalm 104 parallels the creation, with vs. 2 the first day, the creation of light, vs. 3 the second day, “lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters”, and vs. 5-7 the appearing of dry land. In between vss. 3 and 5, it seems to be speaking of the creation of the angels after or at the end of the 2nd day, but prior to “establishing the earth on its foundations”.
