1 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17296
Lionstrong, Yes we are God's people, as believers. However, the context of this passage is about Israel. Steve PS If you want you can apply all that is going to happen to Israel in the future, including the "bad" stuff. |

2 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Lionstrong | 17348
Dear Steve, Since the passage is about God's people, it has application to God's people today. Peace, Lionstrong |

3 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17355
Lionstrong, The context of the passage is the Lord appearing to Solomon after the dedication of the Temple. Verse 13 ... has there been no rain? Verse 14 ... do the Christians have a land? Verse 15 ... are we in Jerusalem or the Temple? Verse 16 ... has God consentrated a place in the US? -- I say no to all the questions. This passage does not apply to the US or Christians? Steve |

4 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Lionstrong | 17413
Dear Steve, Since all Scripture is inspired by God, it is profitable to believers today as well. This passage has principles that apply to God's people today. For one, it teaches God's faithfulness to answer his people with mercy and healing when we humbly come to him in times of distress or calamity. It also shows the tender compassion of our almighty God. It illustrates a man coming boldly to the throne of grace to find mercy and grace to help in time of need. No, Steve, God has much to say to his NT people in this passage. Rom 15:4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Peace, Lionstrong |

5 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Searcher56 | 17446
Lionstrong, One last time. Not all the promises in the Bible are for Christians. Read the context and know it does not apply to us. Also read the context of Romans 15. You have been mistaught on 2 Chronicles 7:14. Steve |

6 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Lionstrong | 17513
So, Steve, not all Scripture is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction or training in righteousness, is it? Lionstrong |

7 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Morant61 | 17517
Greetings Lionstrong and Steve! May I literally take a mediating position. I think both of you has a valid point that is not necessarily opposite of the other. I think Steve is correct that 2 Chr. 7:14 is not addressed to Christians, but to Jews. Thus, it is not offically a "promise" for us today. However, I think Lionstrong is correct that 2 Chr. 7:14 can be applied as a principle. Any nation which seeks God, humbles themselves and prays will be blessed by God. What do you guys think? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

8 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Lionstrong | 17521
Thanks for your mediation, Tim. But my brother Steve goes beyond saying that it's not addressed to the chruch ( in a way it is, since the Holy Spirit inspired it for us too. 2 Tim 3:16) and says it has NO application for us, the NT Israel, which is what we are. ........ ¶ I applaud his efforts to intrepret Scripture aright, but the Scripture itself makes the whole content of Scripture relevant to God's people of all ages. ................. ¶ Thanks again, Lionstrong |

9 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Morant61 | 17526
Greetings Lionstrong! You are right, all of Scripture is inspired, but that doesn't necessarily mean that every verse is a promise directed at us. To use a wild example, God said to Sara, "You will have a son". This doesn't mean that God promised everyone of us that we would have a son. However, we can all learn much from God's actions and Sara's response to God in that circumstance. So, I would agree with Steve to a point. However, I think you are right that the principle is relevant. While not a direct promise to us, God does show mercy to those who repent. Any nation that seeks Him will be blessed. But, I would not say that 2 Chr. 7:14 is a direct promise to us. My mine point was that you two seem to be a lot closer to me than either one will admit! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

10 | God's people's land? | 2 Chr 7:14 | Lionstrong | 17595
Dear Tim, I don't see how you can agree with Steve "to a point." His point is, and I quote, "This passage does not apply to the US or Christians?" Now this passage either has no application for God's NT Israel (us) today, or it does. My only question for brother Leabeater was HOW, not if, it applied. Then brother Steve comes in and says that it does not apply to us. So, in this case, Tim, I don't see how a partial agreement is possible. It has an application or it doesn't. Peace, Lionstrong |
