Bible Note: Dear Jim, So... (assuming that we don't read Matthew 24:4 in its context) exactly how does one follow Christ's admonition to "see to it that no one misleads you?" Son, can you accomplish His command to avoid error by ignoring His gifts that were specifically and explicitly provided for that purpose? "And He gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints ... so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes." (Ephesians 4:11, 14 ESV) You want us to not rely on scholars who have spent their entire lives in full-time study of the Word... by depending on ourselves, who haven't and can't spend our entire lives in full-time study of the Word. So, Jim, tell us about yourself. What kind of church do you attend? You've been on the forum for over two years, but your profile is blank. In Him, Doc |
