Bible Question:
Searching a lot in books and the net I see defense and attach to the different translations of the Bible primary with KJV, NASB and NIV, do you think, bible versions can become an idol to a peron? Is there something in the bible about His own Word become and idol? Thanks, Praize the Lord, Regards, Lorenzo Jimenez |
Bible Answer: "Contradictions disprove truth." The NT does not contradict the OT. It is not true 'that the moral absolutes of the Law are no longer applicable to us. The New Covenant does not "do away" with the Law in that sense, but rather writes it in our hearts* (Jeremiah 31:31). 'For any system of truth to be valid, it must be consistent with itself. Contradictions disprove truth. If the New Covenant were to contradict previously given scriptures in the Law or the Prophets, then the New Covenant would not be true' (Seven Pillars of Messianic Judaism, Asher Intrater, 2003**). ____________________ *writes it in our hearts. NASB Jeremiah 31:33 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." 'It takes unacceptable theological legerdemain to conclude that when God writes the Torah (law) on hearts he changes it into something other than the Torah' (Restoring the Jewishness of the Gospel, David H. Stern, Jewish New Testament Publications, Inc., 1988)! **"Seven Pillars of Messianic Judaism" To read the entire quote, see ID# 115300. |
