Bible Question: Many churches teach that Jesus is the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, is there any reference in the bible to prove this? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Yumpie, You have described the view of United Pentecostal Church International (Founded in 1945, Membership: est. 600,000 in 3,876 churches (2000)). All of the constituent members of this group were "oneness" ("Jesus only") Pentecostals who withdrew from the Assemblies of God in 1916. Is there any reference in the Bible to prove or give any valid support to Oneness Pentecostalism (Jesus is Father is Holy Spirit)? NO. Over 50 times in the New Testament the Father and Son are seen to be distinct within the same verse (for example, Romans 15:6; 2 Cor. 1:4; Galatians 1:2,3; Phil. 2:10,11; 1 John 2:1; 2 John 3). Blessings to you, Makarios |
