Bible Question: What are Calvins and Arminians? |
Bible Answer: Hello Norrie! Calvinists and Arminians are both groups of believers who believe in Jesus Christ and that He was, in fact, the Son of God. Both of these groups believe in the Trinity. The Calvinists follow the teachings of Reformed Theology and that of John Calvin. The Arminians are a group that follow the teachings of Jacobus Arminius, who disputed with John Calvin in his principle ideas regarding 'election' and predestination. Calvinists and Arminians differ in several views, namely, the issues of election, predestination, and eternal security. The views of both Arminians and Calvinists are already well documented on this Forum, since this Forum has a long history of several of these 'wars', fought through posts, to the discouragement of many. If you are more interested in them and their differences, then I suggest looking up the threads, "Election", Romans 5:6, 1 John 2:2, and "Once Saved Always Saved" in the 'Search' function. Thank you!
