Subject: What are Calvins and Arminians? |
Bible Note: Yes, Rob, I too think that there is a sense in which religion can be viewed as a negative thing, a hindrance instead of an aid to seeking and finding God's truth. Look what an overdose of religion did to the Pharisees of Jesus' day. It may not be entirely unfair to equate their religion with the religion of denominationalism in our time. The Pharisees were right in their own eyes and opposed all who disagreed with them. Echoes from the past of much of the current-day denominational thinking? Perhaps. The similarity is discomfiting; the prospect gives one pause. If John -- the one who ate locusts and wild honey -- were alive today, would he be a Baptist still? Hmmm, now there's a humdinger to ponder! :-) --Hank |
