Subject: To whom do we belong? |
Bible Note: Frankly, I personally find it disconcerting to cast a blanket denunciation of all churches in our time. I'm struck with the problem of facing the reality that with what wisdom I judge, by it I will be judged. Scripture issues a number of warnings to beware of false teachers, but it falls far short of declaring that the church universally is preaching lies and deceit. Having found not a single biblical exegesis that is accurate surely would make one a rara avis indeed. And he, being the only one who is privy to the truth, would, it seems to me, feel pressed to respond to the heavy burden thus imposed upon him and feel constrained to write a commentary that is the pure and unvarnished truth from cover to cover. In so doing, he would not only expose the trickery and error forced upon the reading public at the hands of all the dedicated and scholarly Bible expositors who have gone before him, but would concomitantly, in one fell sweep, achieve the flawless union of the children of God as well. --Hank |
