Bible Question:
I have been confronted lately with a couple of Christians who believe in loss of salvation. I haven't yet had more in depth conversations with these people to find out where they have this understanding from the Bible. Some verses vaguely used were Mathew 7:16, and the reasoning used was, this person was showing all the fruits of someone who was saved yet further on in their life turned and rejected Christ and blasphemed the Holy Spirit. Their argument being that after salvation a loving God still lets you choose. Second area that some have pointed to is in Hebrews 6. Do you believe this also and if so what verses do you use for your understanding. Or do you not believe you can loose your salvation and on what verses do you have for this understanding. Thanking you for your help in this matter. |
Bible Answer: Jabiruu Below are some quotes concerning this topic from a source unknown to me. Let me know what you think of them. "Those who believe "once saved always saved" believe that one grand decision ushers them into an irrevocable state of grace that is unconditionally secure. The truth is, the moment of their decision for Christ is but the beginning." "It is not just the beginning of our spiritual journey that counts, but how we end this race of faith. Many people have gotten off to a good start, but something tripped them up along the way." "If you become severed from a relationship with Jesus Christ, it has nothing to do with God's faithfulness, but rather your own unfaithfulness." |
