Bible Note: Dear New Creature, 1 Cor 12:28 And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. Men will continue to disagree on interprtation til the Lord returns and my opinion is that no one has a perfect understanding of God's Word. Nevertheless, it remains our duty to study and pray for enlightenment. I have had my understanding of certain doctrines completely reversed during my lifetime and have reason to suspect that the Lord may have more surprises in store for me. For this reason I demand scriptural proof before I am convinced of the efficacy of any doctrine of any denomination. What concerns me is your disdain of teachers. Unless I am mis-reading you, it sounds as if you have no regard for the rest of the body. I hope that you do not claim to have possession of all the gifts of God that are only available to the body as a whole. God has ordained some with the gift of teaching but New Creature says throw away their works and disregard what they say. Through your posts you have sought to teach others. You have declared certain doctrines as wrong and others as correct. Frankly, your teaching is somewhat confusing. God has ordained teachers but you disregard them. Then you say, learn from the Word alone, but you don't believe in "sola scriptura" which means scripture alone is the final authority. Can you explain any of this to me? John Reformed |
