Bible Note: "But even repentance follows salvation." Does repentance FOLLOW salvation, or accompany it? Seems to me that when repentance is mentioned in connection with justification, it is mentioned first. The confusion on most people's part seems to come from trying to classify repentance as a "work." "Grace plus nothing is salvation." Grace alone is the CAUSE of salvation, but we are justified through faith (and I believe repentance is an aspect of saving faith) because of Christ's work. Therefore, more is involved in salvation than grace alone. I do hold, however, that the sole reason I have repented in saving faith is due to God's unfailing grace, and that it was God's grace that motivated Him to not spare His own Son. --Joe! |
