Subject: Why would someone get rebaptised? |
Bible Note: Greetings Raven! In his post, Joe mentioned Ps. 51:5. You dismissed that verse with the following comment: "This is not biblical and the verse that you point out is from a prayer that David offered up to God for Him to forgive David his sins." However, your comment does not deal with the substance of the verse my friend. David says in his prayer (which is part of inspired Scripture): "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me." (Ps. 51:5) David doesn't say that he became sinful as an adult. He doesn't even say that he only became sinful at birth. Rather, he says that he was sinful from the moment of conception. How then can you say that we don't inherit a sinful nature? If you look up my posts on the age of accountablity, you will find that I believe orginal sin was atoned for at the Cross, but Scripture is clear that we are sinners from even conception. I also happen to be the father of five. So, I have lots of experience with babies. I can tell you from experience that babies have a sin nature. Haven't you ever seen the little one who, when told not to do something, simles at you and does it anyway? :-) Clearly, even children have a sin nature. Just for a side note, even lawmakers have come to recognize this fact. Here is a comment from a Minnesota Crime Commission report: **************************************** Minnesota Crime Commission Report "Every baby starts life as a little savage. He is completely selfish and self-centered. He wants what he wants when he wants it - his bottle, his mother’s attention, his playmate’s toy, his uncle’s watch. Deny him these wants, and he seethes with rage and aggressiveness, which would be murderous, were he not so helpless. He is dirty. He has no morals, no knowledge, no skills. This means that all children, not just certain children, are born delinquent. If permitted to continue in the self-centered world of his infancy, given free reign to his impulsive actions to satisfy his wants, every child would grow up a criminal, a thief, a killer, a rapist."
