NASB | 1 John 3:24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:24 The one who habitually keeps His commandments [obeying His word and following His precepts, abides and] remains in Him, and He in him. By this we know and have the proof that He [really] abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us [as a gift]. |
Bible Question:
Scripture ... Acts 9:4-6.17-22, 13:1ff, 22:6-16, 26:14-20 ... Did Saul/Paul speak in tongues when he was saved (or by your belief when he was baptized by the Holy Spirit) ... or was it later? See post 172254? |
Bible Answer: I don't know what you mean by my belief, you seam to think I believe one must be baptized in the Holy Spirit to be saved, which I do not believe. He would have spoken in tongues for the first time when He was baptized in the Holy Spirit as the other believers had in Acts 2:4 and continued to speak in tongues as a part of his devotional prayer life when he did not know what to pray for or how best to pray allowing the Holy Spirit to pray through him speaking to God. 1 Corinthians 14:2,18 and 26 tongues are among those things that must be done "for the strengthening of the church." Also verse 39 "do not forbid speaking in tongues." |
