NASB | 1 John 3:24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 John 3:24 The one who habitually keeps His commandments [obeying His word and following His precepts, abides and] remains in Him, and He in him. By this we know and have the proof that He [really] abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us [as a gift]. |
Subject: How do we know that we are truly saved? |
Bible Note: I must say "Amen" to the response that Pastor Glenn gave. Those are the words of Scripture, and an expression of the heart of God. He loves us, and he wants us to love him. Love is the motivation for our obedience. As for feeling the presence of God, I agree as well. Whether or not we feel him, he is with us. Fact is, he is in us. Whither shall I go from his spirit? Or whither shall I flee from his presence? If I ascend up into heaven, he is there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, he is there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall his hand lead me, and his right hand shall hold me. It may be that we feel alone when we are closest to him and cannot see him from afar. It may be we should rejoice in those moments and say, “I am hid away with Christ in God”. |
