Bible Note: He had to become as a man through obedience. "who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. " (Philippians 2:6-8) He put his Deity's power aside and only functioned as a man. A man who was to be led of the Spirit just as we are now to be. He pioneered the way for us. He tested all the faith we are to live by. He proved it. He proved it by overcoming all evil we could ever face. He then gave us this faith (the mind of Christ) which is the Word of God being applied to our lives. We are to know the Word... understand the Word... and learn to apply its thinking to our situations which our Father has set before us. Angels watch us and cheer us on. Fallen angels watch us and jeer. Those who properly learn sound doctrine and apply it to their lives will overcome the evils of their day. Those who do not, fail to glorify Christ. They only glorify self. " For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." (2Tim 4:3nivĀ®) Grace and peace, Gene |
