Subject: CONDITIONAL ETERNAL SECURITY |
Bible Note: Greetings Pastor Glenn; Some like to use this verse to show that it is possible for a believer to lose their salvation. Yet they don’t take into consideration that if that is the case that person would be eternally lost without any hope of being saved again, i.e. they can’t be saved again because of what it says in verse 6. Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, [5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, [6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For it is IMPOSSIBLE to renew them again unto repentance, because: They crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. The if clause in verse 6 is the second class condition in the Greek which mean in effect that it is not true, I.e. they can’t In the Greek it reads as follows emphasizing the second class condition. If they shall fall away, which they can’t, because they can’t crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. CDBJ |
