Subject: Why can we not just be Christians? |
Bible Note: Not yet: I am confused. Now I have a few questions. You write: "I feel strongly that you have proven my position." I thought I knew what your position was. Now I'm not sure. Would you tell me again what it is? If I have proven your position, then one of us is confused. If you believe I have proven your position then either a) I don't understand what your position is; or b) you didn't understand the meaning of my post. I'm not being sarcastic here. I honestly don't know which it is. As to your original question, "Why can we not just be Christians?", frankly I don't see what your question has to do with the Bible doctrine of election. Not saying you're doing this, but IF you're implying that I am an ULTRA-Calvinist, you have a misperception of me and my posts. I'm not an ULTRA- anything. I have not taught Calvinism either on or off this forum. What I believe and affirm is simply the Bible Doctrine of Election. If others choose to label the Bible Doctrine of Election as Calvinism, that's their choice. But I have never so labeled it. In proclaiming this doctrine, I am simply being a Bible-believing Christian -- nothing else. IF someone were to label me a Calvinist, I would have to laugh. I know next to nothing about Calvinism. So how could I espouse that which I can barely define, let alone defend? I am what I am and leave the labeling of myself and my beliefs to others. Please understand that in this Note I have no quarrel with you. It's just that I don't quite understand what you wrote in your previous Note and am seeking clarification.
