NASB | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 6:6 and then have fallen away--it is impossible to bring them back again to repentance, since they again nail the Son of God on the cross [for as far as they are concerned, they are treating the death of Christ as if they were not saved by it], and are holding Him up again to public disgrace. |
Bible Question: Tim, for my (our) edification can "present, active, participle, masculine, plural, accusative" stop, as some say ... does it continue ... or could it be either. I can't find the answer. Searcher |
Bible Answer: Greetings Searcher! It could be either in the sense that the kind of action is what is most in focus. In general: Aorist (and sometimes Perfect) participles express action which is antecedent to the main verb. Present participles express action which is simultaneous to the action of the main verb. And, future participles express action which is subsequent to the action of the main verb. However, nothing in any of these forms (with the possible exception of the Perfect) says anything about the action of the participle continuing indefinitely or stopping. So, in that sense it could be either. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
