Subject: wine and acohol |
Bible Note: I talked to my wine expert and I stand corrected NAPA valley does produce grapes with unusually high sugar content of 20 plus brix which under ‘perfect’ conditions can produce 10 plus percent alcohol. However this is not the norm and to do this the wineries still have to add to the juice substances that just weren't available in Bible times. I think even you will agree that 1-3 percent without the addition of sugar is the norm world wide and that at least 10 percent is needed to prevent spoilage. Also as you said wine made this way is bad smelling and even worst tasting. Also people can not live drinking wine in place of water. Alcohol is a natural dehydrator that actually pulls water out of the body. A person would literally die of thirst if they had nothing but wine to drink. Therefore they had to drink water, the quality of which is no better or worst than what is drank today in many places in the area. As for drinking alcohol during pregnancy I don't think you have the credentials to override the advice of medical community, which is NO alcohol during pregnancy. EdB |
