NASB | 1 Timothy 5:23 ¶ No longer drink water exclusively, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Timothy 5:23 ¶ No longer continue drinking [only] water, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. |
Subject: wine and acohol |
Bible Note: How did you determine that this was "New Wine"? I have looked in several versions and do not see a reference to "New Wine". Several say "Good Wine" or "the Best Wine", but I could not find the phrase "New Wine". You also say that "New Wine" has little or no alcoholic content. Yet in Act 2:13 the apostles are accused of being drunk on "New Wine" or "Sweet Wine" (depending on the version). If the reference to "New Wine" here is correct, then it would seem that "New Wine" is intoxicating. |
