Bible Note: Friend, your assertion of two judgements is not supported in the context. Each person will be judged according to their deeds. Those who chose disobedience, whether in the body or not, will be cast into hell. Those who chose obedience to God's law will recieve heaven. The greek word for "judgement seat" makes no distinction, or implication, that it is reserved solely for Christians. That is wishful thinking. 1Peter1:17, by the way, still presents a problem,as well, since it would make little sense for a Christian to conduct themselves in fear, if there was nothing they could do to change their situation (That would be quite unfair of God, if that were the case, wouldn't it?). A bigger question may be, "To whom is the Bible written?". Is scripture not the "travel guide" for Christians? Do pagans have any interest in the Bible? Certainly, the majority of the books of the New Testament are addressed specifically to saints. Are any addressed to pagans? Does not the word itself tell us that scripture is foolishness and veiled to those who are perishing? Why would John 3:36, like every word of God's holy writ,be written to and for anyone other than those who make up God's kingdom! Christians do not need to be told their pagan neighbors shall not see life. Christians need to be reminded; and they are time and time again for those who have ears to hear; that Christianity is a race. Only Christians run in it and, with effort, successfully finish. Sadly, I suspect, those percentages are few. Have a pleasant day. |
