Bible Answer: I believe that we must take such verses as 1 Tim 3:1 literally and as applicable for our present time, since the 'spirit' or idea of this passage is that one should be above reproach in regards to what is 'right' and 'wrong', and this should be reflected in his or her life, regardless of what time or culture that they live in. I believe that everything in the Bible is applicable for our present time. |
