Bible Question: hmmm... well then how do you apply literally from OT (or even NT) texts like: OT examples of stoning, etc, etc... numerous examples of OT law that we "me-vangelicals" (myself included) like to explain away, but then use the NT more conveniently for its ability to literally translate doctrine in the modern context. do you handle all of God's Word the same? I am digging here, but be assured I come from a conservative PCA backround and am in the midst of a church plant where the issues are beginning to divide... especially over the women and Holy Spirit issues. No fun right now to be honest. Bigger fish to fry in my opinion. |
Bible Answer: Those OT examples are a demonstration of God's righteousness and will be performed on the last day. Additionally, God judged in Christ all the sins of his elect people. Those OT principles are still valid. But the problem is there is no Christian theocracy active now as there was in the land of Palestine back then. But when Christ returns, the theocracy will be restored and so will its judgments of those who are pagan, who rejected Christ, or are tares in the spiritual "kingdom" of today. |
