Bible Question: well then how do you distinguish between verses that say explicitly that women should wear head coverings when they pray or the women should be silent in church mandate... are both literally applied in our modern context? |
Bible Answer: Hello mdkane88! No, the church as a whole today does not adhere to the scripture concerning head coverings (1 Cor. 11:3-15). In my church, every single woman wears a head covering, and every single man has short hair. I attend a Conservative Mennonite/Anabaptist church, and it is stated in our church Covenant that a woman should have her head covered as expressly stated in 1 Cor. 11:3-15. I'm just about as close to the Amish Mennonite as one can get, and we believe in head coverings and foot washing. Our women do this to show reverence and humility to God (separation to God from the world), and the church as a whole today is not practicing the use of the head covering. The wearing of the head covering is applicable and should be applied in our modern context. Blessings, Nolan |
