Bible Question (short): Double standard? |
Question (full): Dear RCScroll, With all due respect, wouldn't this be a 'double standard' of Bible interpretation? What would keep us from 'picking choosing' gifts of the Spirit, or even books of the Bible, as some do? Please look over my thoughts outlined in Apologetics, Parts 1 and 2 (again, my humble apologies to you about my mix-up), and explain scripturally why post ascension apostles and prophets are mentioned, but now invalid. 'The closing of the canon of scripture' should have no more difference to the continuance of one ministry over another. My friend, this is not a 'shooting match' against you, I pursue Jesus. I have seen balanced ministries that continue in the work of the apostles and prophets in the same manner as pastors, evangelists, and teachers. I have also seen much abuse, and I am a victim of such abuse. Being burnt gives me care in application, but doesn't make me forsake fire. Many blessings to you in Christ Jesus, charis |
