Subject: Does Jude 1:17 answer Eph 4:11? |
Bible Note: Hi Ray, Here it is almost a year later, and you're still talking to yourself. I'm told that's all right unless you start answering yourself. :) Actually, I'm writing this because Jh2 wrote a post for this thread yesterday and there is still interest in it. I would like to correct a typo that I made and talk about the compared verses. I should have written Ephesian 4:ll in its second use in the post. The suggested verses for comparison were Eph 4:ll and Jude 17. Actually, today I would like to look at Eph 4:12 and Jude 19. Ephesians 4:12, "for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the BUILDING UP of the body of Christ;..." All caps are for comparison. Jude 19, "These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, BUILDING YOURSELVES UP on your most holy faith; praying in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God,..." The comparison is one of contrast between those who would cause divisions and those who would build up the believers. The comparison is one of knowledge of the Son of God and praying in the Holy Spirit. Praying for the will of God; for the keeping of ourselves in the love of God and the speaking of the truth in love. From the heart, Ray |
