AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we [believers will be called to account and] must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be repaid for what has been done in the body, whether good or bad [that is, each will be held responsible for his actions, purposes, goals, motives--the use or misuse of his time, opportunities and abilities]. |
Subject: What does judgement look like |
Bible Note: MJH, you seem to be a fair individual so I'll reply to you. Jesus disagreed with Moses about the "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" policy in Jesus' "...you have heard it said, but I tell you" passages. Jesus didn't stone the woman caught in adultery even though this is what the Law of Moses demanded. As I've stated in another posts, Jesus disagreed with Moses (and Joshua) that the way the people of God should treat their enemies is to kill them. Jesus' disagreed with Moses about honoring father and mother, Jesus said to hate father and mother if you wanted to be his disciple. Jesus himself claimed to be greater than Moses. This implies that he reveals more of God or more truth than Moses does. PS - Contrary to what some people here may think I think, I do believe that the whole Bible is scripture. But I don't believe that the whole Bible is applicable to us today. I see no way in which someone could claim that the whole Bible is authoritative for them and then say that some parts don't apply to them. I am at least honest about stating that the whole Bible doesn't apply to me. |
